In 2004, a group of industrial distribution industry leaders in Ontario assessed the state of the industry with respect to employee recruitment and retention. They discovered that Canadian workers spend 25 to 40% of every week doing non- productive activities, and receive only 8 days of training per year, resulting in a shortage of skilled labour. As baby boomers retire, the situation would only grow worse. So, they decided to do something about it. Building for Success through E-Learning: An Industry Initiative was the result.
